he agile spot welder
IRB 6620 has been developed together with our major automotive customers and features a lot of customer values, such as compactness and agility, in addition to traditional ABB trademarks such as collision resistance and low maintenance costs. The unique compactness and agility of the IRB 6620 makes it possible to mount the robot floor standing, shelf, inverted and in tilted positions.
Agile - Large vertical stroke
The agility makes the robot able to work in non-standard working positions. IRB 6620 is designed without balancing cylinder, which makes the robot more compact and agile.
Compact - Increased robot density
IRB 6620 is designed to be compact, in order to increase the robot density in crowded automotive production lines. This leads to shorter cycle times, as an increased number of work procedures can be performed simultaneously.
Reliable - High production up time
A built-in Service Information System (SIS) monitors the motion and load of the machine and optimizes service requirements.
IRB 6620 has some smart features, especially for spot welding, such as a smooth wrist, which reduces the wear of the dress pack, to increase the lifetime and reduces maintenance.
Fast – Short cycle times
Thanks to ABB´s unique motion control, the robot optimizes the acceleration and retardation, which results in shortest cycle time possible.
Strong – Maximized utilization
Payload and Reach: 150kg and 2.2 m. IRB 6620 can handle not only heavy parts but also large parts, and handles higher moment of inertia, than competitors robots.
Robust – Collision resistant design
The software option ‘Collision detection’ instantly detects a collision force and reduces impact forces with up to 70%. The IRB 6620 gear boxes are designed to be flexible at impact, which means less damage to the robot in case of collision.
Versatile – Four robots in one
IRB 6620 is the most versatile of the large robots on the market. IRB 6620 can be installed in four mounting positions:
Floor - can work more than 1,1 m below its foot
Tilted - up to 15°
Shelf - suitable to work on the second layer of two layer automotive installations
Inverted - with full robot performance in reach and payload
